openmediavault is the next generation network attached storage (NAS) solution based on Debian Linux. It contains services like SSH, (S)FTP, SMB/CIFS, RSync and many more ready to use. For more information see the openmediavault website
Download the openmediavault installation image from the link. This screenshot shows an example installation with version 6.5.0 of openmediavault. We recommend downloading the latest available stable version.
Power on the device, press the DELETE key, and verify that it boots to the BIOS.
Select the “Boot” tab, then “FIXED BOOT ORDER Priorities,” and confirm that “Boot Option #1” is set to “USB Device.” The screenshot shows an example of a SanDisk USB device, the manufacturer’s name may change or may not be displayed.
Press F4 to save and exit the BIOS.
Reboot the device i.e (power off and power on)
The device should boot into the openmediavault installer.
Install openmediavault:
Connect Ethernet cable between any one of the 4 ethernet ports on the Shunya Mini-Server and your Router.
Choose “Install” on the openmediavault installer screen.
Choose Installation language, location and keyboard settings
Installer will auto-detect the internet settings and highlight the ethernet port on which the internet is accessible. Press ENTER
Next set the hostname and root password
Next step is to setup the storage. Choose the SSD/NVMe device for installing the openmediavault.
Installer will automatically create the partitions required. Select “Yes” to write the partitions to the HDD/SDD.Installer will take some time to install the required packages and grub. And will reboot to openmediavault.
openmediavault provides a WebUI which can be used to further configure the Mini Server.
Connect your laptop/computer to the Router where the Mini-Server is connected.
Access the openmediavault WebUI at the given URL in shown in openmediavault console.
The login using the username: admin and password: openmediavault
That’s it openmediavault is configured.
