2. Install Proxmox® VE #
2.1 What you will need for installation #
- Shunya N-BOX mini server
- USB drive (at least 8GB)
- HDMI Monitor
- USB Keyboard
- Internet connection
- Laptop/PC
2.2 Steps #
2.2.1. Make Bootable USB for Proxmox® VE installer image #
- Download the Proxmox® VE installation image from this link .
This screenshot shows an example installation with version 8.1-1 of Proxmox® VE. We recommend downloading the latest available version. - Download and install balenaEtcher from balenaEtcher website.
- Insert your USB Drive into the separate laptop or PC and open balenaEtcher.
- Click on “Flash from file” and select the Proxmox® VE installer image file.

- Click on “Select target” and choose your USB drive.
- Click on “Flash!” This will write the Proxmox® VE installer to the USB drive.

2.2.2. Install Proxmox® VE #
- Access BIOS:
- Power off the device.
- Connect the monitor.
- Insert the USB device into a USB port.
- Plug in a USB keyboard.
- Power on the device, press the
DELETEkey, and verify that it boots to the BIOS.
- Select the “Boot” tab, then “FIXED BOOT ORDER Priorities,” and confirm that “Boot Option #1” is set to “USB Device.”

- Reboot the device i.e (power off and power on)
- The device should boot into the Proxmox® VE installer.

- Install Proxmox® VE:
- Before you start installation make sure that you connect the device to the Internet. You can connect an Ethernet cable from your Router to any one of the Ethernet ports of the device.
- Install Proxmox VE (Graphical) option does not display button on some displays. (Displays with non-standard resolutions for example 1366×768 have this problem). Terminal UI tends to work on all displays and resolutions, So we will choose to install using Terminal UI.
- Select “Install Proxmox VE (Terminal UI)”.

- Agree the terms and conditions.

- Choose the drive for installation.
- Setup your Country, Timezone and Keyboard Layout.

- Set root password and admin email

- Set up the network interface. If you’ve already connected the device to a router with DHCP, the installer will automatically detect your network details. If you’re not using DHCP or haven’t connected the device yet, please connect it now and fill in the required details.
- Review all the info and Choose Install and Press
ENTER
- Installer will now install Proxmox® VE.
- Once installation is complete. Remove the bootable USB and reboot.
- After reboot the device will boot to Proxmox® VE.

Installation of Proxmox® VE is complete!

2.2.3 Proxmox VE WebUI #
Proxmox® VE provides a WebUI using which we can configure, create and use Virtual Machines.
- Connect your laptop/computer to the Router where the Mini Server is connected.
- Access the Proxmox® VE WebUI at the given URL (URL is displayed in Proxmox® VE console).



- Login with root user credentials setup during the installation.


That’s it Proxmox® VE is installed.
